Named after Chef Sobah, the ‘Best Chef in the Maldives’ award winner, Sobah’s is a traditional Maldivian restaurant located on an uninhabited island only 15 minutes away by speedboat from Soneva Fushi.
The cuisine is uniquely Maldivian with modern twists, and is prepared using traditional cooking methods. The beach restaurant seats only 18 for dinner and is open two nights per week, subject to a minimum number of diners. On completion of the dinner, guests will be given an introduction to the starry night sky from our resident astronomer, while enjoying some of our finest digestives. A not-to-be-missed experience.
Fresh In The Garden
Fresh picked delights from nature bring back memories of childhood – Midsummer strawberry picking, twisting dandelions in hand. In Soneva Fushi’s eternal summer, Fresh in the Garden rekindles these sensations from a very lofty perch.
Surrounded by tropical banana trees, this restaurant without walls rises above our herb and vegetable garden with sublime panoramas stretching beyond. Enjoy a long, leisurely meal of Mediterranean-inspired dishes, prepared with freshly plucked produce from your surroundings.
We aim to anticipate our guests’ desires. In the words of Oscar Wilde, “Nothing succeeds like excess.” In that spirit we have gone delightfully overboard for you at the culinary heart of our island. Mihiree Mitha means “Here it is”, and almost any dish you crave is here.
The day begins with a bounty of just-baked goodies, two dozen imported cheeses, eggs any way you like, a treasure chest of homemade jams and fresh fruits… luscious mango, papaya, passionfruits. For lunch or dinner, choose from the freshest sushi and sashimi, organic salads, wood-fired pizzas, grilled fish, delectable tandoori. For a sweet finish, more than 60 homemade ice creams and sorbets await, including unexpected flavours like honeycomb and rosemary, piña colada and chocolate-lemongrass.
Tipples by the ripples. Lie back on a cushioned hammock suspended over the Indian Ocean, cocktail in hand, and watch the dance of fish schooling beneath the waves. Look out for bottlenose or spinner dolphins frolicking in the sunset, or perhaps a majestic sea turtle gliding past just beyond arm’s reach.
Marrying nature and nurture, we created Bar(a)bara as a passionately charged retreat to foster romance or a feeling of warmth – with all the aquatic beauty of the Maldives literally at your feet. We believe the mark of any great home is a fantastic wine cellar. As we built Soneva Fushi as our island home (yes it was our personal Robinson Crusoe hideaway before we expanded the “estate” to host guests), we made sure to create a cave that rivalled the world’s finest wine collections.
The collection: rare champagnes, grand cru clarets, vintage cognacs, organic and biodynamic wines. Before any dinner, our sommelier would be happy to descend with you to the subterranean wine cellar and show you around our collection of 7,000 bottles as he helps you pick your evening’s selection.
Tastings throughout each week tempt your palate with flights of unique wines, paired with a delectable assortment of amuse-bouche and interactive discussions guided by our sommelier.
