White Tip and Gray Reef sharks, Hawksbill turtles, Dog Tooth Tuna, Napoleon fish, schools of Blue Stripe snappers, Bat fish and Fusilier fish, Barracuda and Eagle and Manta rays have all been spotted at Maldivian Dive Sites just 15 minutes off the island.
For speed demons, power boating and jet skiing is on offer. Water skiing, surfing, parasailing, big game fishing, wake and knee boarding await the adventurous.
Since 2012, the resident marine biology team at our Eco Beach resort has taken naturally broken pieces of coral and planted them in the island’s lagoon, in areas where the corals flourish. What exists now is a little world under the water that is monitored and measured over time. Guests are invited to build on this and add their name or a dedication to the structure – leaving an important environmental legacy for the future.
Our wild Dolphin friends are never far away. They’re easy to spot as they play in the morning sun and bask in the warm evening sun. Morning cruises on select days will take you to see the Spinner dolphins perform their happy acrobatics. Closer to the island, Bottlenose dolphins leap over the wake of the boats. On very rare occasions, Risso’s dolphins are spotted near the island. In November 2015, a pod was seen. These majestic creatures are as dazzling as they are enigmatic.
BE GUIDED BY THE MARINE BIOLOGIST
By taking a personal guided tour with a marine biologist, your Maldives Nature Experience will be so much richer. Learn all about the different species that live in the waters around us. See the myriad characterful, colourful reef fish and the much-spotted timid Blacktip reef sharks, amid some of the best snorkelling spots around the island.
WITH THE GARDEN CHEF
In the middle of the island is a special spot for our chefs; their very own garden where fresh basil, rosemary, eggplant, Scotch bonnet chilli and a selection of other herbs and vegetables are grown. Once a week, you can experience a signature Maldivian dinner at the garden, with our chefs taking you through each course as they explain the inspiration behind the exclusive menu. Make new friends and learn more about traditional Maldivian cuisine as you toast to tastes you have never encountered before.
Twice a week, on Conch Bar beach, as the sun sets, our chefs cook up a stunning feast over fire. Your senses will be seduced by the unmistakable aroma of grilling seafood, reef fish, prawns, cuttlefish, chicken, steak. The diverse selection of sides and salads will perfect your plate, and the dessert table never fails to impress.
SILVER SCREEN UNDER THE STARS
Join us on the beach for our weekly cinema night when the big screen goes up, and guests watch classics and new releases in style and comfort. Or, for a special screening, we can create you your own cinema on the beach complete with popcorn, drinks and our gorgeously comfortable beach-bag chairs.

Our chefs will prepare picnics so that your time on Embudhoo is delicious. Barbecues and group celebrations can also be arranged on Embudhoo, for the ultimate private party.

The healing properties of tropical plants and their fruits are harnessed to bring genuine refreshment to our guests. Our luxury spa includes five ambient rooms that host treatments inspired by ancient Indonesian, Thai and Indian Ayurvedic techniques. Boosted by products with over 50 years of experience, the Thalgo range of products are the undisputed expert in thalassotherapy. A Spice Bath ritual is a unique wellness treatment experience. Sip on a local Kurumba drink while taking a soothing soak in hot water infused with fresh ginger, lime, lemongrass, galangal and betel leaf. This removes impurities from the skin and promotes cellular renewal.
Perhaps our signature wellness treatment, Journey to the Maldives, will take you to another level of relaxation. Local virgin coconut oil is poured over seashells that are used to gently yet deeply relieve muscle tension. A fully-equipped gym awaits guests who like to keep up the good work and, nestled in the foliage, our yoga pavilion invites reconnection of mind, body and soul.
