Dhaalu Atoll, officially known as Nilandhe Atholhu Dhekunuburi is one of the administrative divisions of the Maldives, with the Dhivehi Letter Code: Dh. Located 150 Km from Male’ City, the Southern area of Nilandhe: Dhaalu is made up of 56 islands of which 7 are inhabited by local Maldivians with Kudahuvadhoo serving as the Capital Island. Currently there are 3 uninhabited islands operating as tourist resorts: Per Aquum Niyama, Angsana Velavaru and Vilu Reef Beach & Spa, whilst another is being developed on Vommuli Island.
Dhaalu Atoll or South Nilandhe is an administrative Atoll where mysterious mounds called ‘Hawittas’ has been found which contains Buddhist remains from the Pre-Islamic Era. The Capital Island of Kudahuvadhu possess a mosque that is famed for having the finest masonry in the island nation. In addition to that, a number of popular dive sites including; the protected marine area Fushi Kandu with five Thilas, Velavaru Kandu, Kermitt Corner, Thibisa Far Garden, and plenty more dive spots and wreck sites are found in South Nilandhe Atoll as well.
